Career Highlights/Achievements

David joined the Savoy Hotel Group as a Trainee Manager in 1974 ending his training as Assistant Manager at Stones Chop House, since sold.

Subsequently, he held positions within the Savoy Group, namely; Banqueting Manager at Claridges, Hotel manager at The Savoy and Resident Manager at Claridge’s.
An integral part of Ramon Pajares’s ‘Savoy2000’ initiative David steered Claridges through its first major £45m refurbishment since 1930. David left the Savoy Group in 1998 to take up the role of General Manager at the Athenaeum Hotel in Piccadilly before moving to General Manager of Pennyhill Park Hotel near Windsor, where he gained and maintained five red stars and opened the largest and most comprehensive spa in the United Kingdom.

In early 2008, David took up the post of Secretary at the Travellers Club, the first purpose built gentlemens club in Pall Mall and one of the most important grade 1 listed buildings in London. David was made a Master Innholder in 2004, is a Freeman of the City of London, an Honorary life member of the Golden Keys, Chairman of the Savoy Society and an Executive Committee member of the Master Innholders.
